Gear & Setup Questions
How much ceiling height do I need?
For most golfers, 9 feet is the working minimum for a full driver swing and 10 feet is comfortable. Use our Room Size Checker to test your room against your height and longest club before buying anything.
What is the difference between photometric and radar launch monitors?
Photometric: High-speed cameras photograph the ball (and sometimes club) at impact. Excellent indoors, short ball-flight requirement.
Radar: Doppler radar tracks the ball in flight. Works great outdoors but needs more room depth indoors — typically 15 feet or more of total space.
Do I need an impact screen, or can I use a net?
You can absolutely start with a net and a tablet for the data. An impact screen plus projector is what turns practice into playing courses — but it adds cost and demands more from your room.
What software should I run?
GSPro and E6 Connect are the two most common choices for home sims. Which one you can use depends on the launch monitor — check the Software column in our comparison table.
